Information on Reporting Illness

If you have a complaint of problem with a food product, the agency you should contact may vary depending on what the product is.  Below are some contacts for food product problems sorted by the type of product. If you are ill please see your physician.

Meats, Poultry and Egg Products:

Contact: United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Meat and Poultry Hotline, 1-888-674-6854

Restaurant Food Problems/Complaints:

Contact: Please call your local health department.  Their number can be found in your local phone directory or through  the following link.

Non-Meat Food Product:

Contact: United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
Reports should be made to your FDA complaint coordinator.  Go here for more information on what products should be reported to the FDA.
